GSL Electric Named a 2025 National Top Workplace

Article by: Tom Ewing - PResident

A Great Honor

I’m proud to share that GSL Electric has been named a 2025 National Top Workplace by USA Today—an honor that carries deep meaning for our company and, more importantly, for our people.

Unlike many industry awards, the Top Workplaces program is based entirely on employee feedback. There’s no application we can submit, no clever wording we can craft—just honest responses from the people who make GSL what it is every single day. That’s what makes this recognition so special. It tells us that the culture we work hard to build and protect is felt, lived, and valued by the people who are at the center of it all: our Employee-Owners.

This award is one of several we’ve received in recent years from the Top Workplaces program, including recognition in categories such as Purpose and Values, Professional Development, and Company Direction. We’ve also been named a Top Workplace in the Construction Industry and across multiple regions, including Utah and Nevada. But no matter how many awards we receive, they all point to the same truth: our people are the reason we thrive.

When GSL Electric was founded in 1981, we were a small electrical contractor with a modest crew, focused on doing quality work primarily in Utah. Today, we’ve grown to a team of hundreds of  employees, serving clients across Intermountain West. But even as our footprint has expanded, our commitment to doing right by our people has stayed constant.

We are proud to be a 100% employee-owned company. That means every employee has a stake in our success—not just in theory, but in a very real and tangible way. When our Employee-Owners win, GSL wins. And when we face challenges, we face them together, with the same focus on finding solutions that benefit everyone involved. It has what has helped us continue to thrive and grow throughout our history.

A Win for Everyone

At the heart of GSL’s culture is a simple but powerful principle: we don’t move forward unless it’s a win-win. Whether we’re working with project owners, general contractors, or each other, we believe that the best outcomes are the ones where everyone benefits. That mindset has shaped how we approach our work, our relationships, and our internal culture. If we can’t find a solution that works for everyone, we keep working until we do.

I want to thank each and every member of the GSL Electric team for making this award possible. Your commitment to quality, your willingness to support each other, and your belief in what we’re building together are what set this company apart. Whether you’ve been here for decades or just joined recently, your voice matters—and this award is a reflection of that.

Our Growing Culture

I also want to acknowledge that culture isn’t static. It requires attention, care, and effort from all of us. As we grow and evolve, we must continue to listen to each other, learn from each other, and invest in the kind of workplace where people feel respected, supported, and motivated to do their best work.

Being named a 2025 National Top Workplace is a proud moment, but it’s not the finish line. It’s a reminder that we’re on the right path—and an encouragement to keep moving forward with the same integrity, teamwork, and shared purpose that brought us here.

To all of our employees: thank you. This recognition belongs to you.
